Best Suited Competition
2025

A man likes a good challenge! Pure linen naturally wrinkles easily. Wearing a cool and vibrant looking 100% linen suit confidently, looking polished all day, is a challenge. A linen suit can be seen as too casual or resort like but who doesn’t like a challenge to accessorise and jazz it up to become an outfit that’s appropriate FOTF race wear! This Paris inspired Daniel Hechter light blue 100% pure linen two piece suit is complimented with a Connor dark blue dark check vest. The vest buttons have been changed to blue eye centred, gold encircled buttons, that have been added to sinuate a streamlined vertical tall look.
The gold buckled belt and the pair of boots, are blue Chinchilla coloured leather from RM Williams.
Both the hat and boots are true iconic Australian apparel. The hat is a dark blue pure fur felt Stylemaster Akubra hat with added electric blue feathers on the left side.
The suit jacket lapel pin is a plain dark satin blue designed rose bud. The shirt is a full cutaway collar design, white in colour with light blue tight check. The shirt is complimented with dark blue cats eye gold chain, cufflinks. The tie is a semi dark blue with a silver/white/light blue paisley pattern, tied with a full Windsor tie knot. The tie is complimented with a gold dark blue cats eye tie bar matching the cufflinks. The pocket square is a shimmering dark blue with a light silver paisley pattern, similar pattern design to the tie but not made of the same material. ‘Along with buttoning the bottom button of a suit and vest/waistcoat, matching exactly your tie and pocket square is considered a cardinal sin of men's style, considered as, “the lazy man”. Having the same exact colour and material designed tie gives the impression that you don't care or don't know any better.’
A fashion popar, “challenge accepted!” This overall outfit style look is timeless inspired dapper with a modern blue summer sky twist. Cool, calm and collective! I, Paul Johnston, have been retired for the last 10 years after completing 30 years in the Australian Army. My men’s fashion passion accidently happened when my darling wife, Catherine, entered me in a Fashions On The Field (FOTF) event at the Townsville Cup in 2008 to entice me away from betting, however I won the best dress gentleman competition and been hooked ever since. I found that I was winning more money and prizes than punting, and most importantly the meeting of new people and making new friends and acquaintances. I have found the FOTF community a very interesting collectic and colourful group of people that like to have fun while showing flair.
I am just a plain bloke getting up and having ago. I just wish more blokes would participate and have ago.
