What happened in Coffs Coast

The People’s Cup began its tour of Coffs Harbour on Friday with a morning tea hosted at the Coffs Harbour Racecourse with local trainers, businesses and community members all having the opportunity to get up close with this year’s Lexus Melbourne Cup and hear from racing legend Sheila Laxon.

The Cup continued its tour of Coffs Harbour stopping into Coffs Central where it sat on display to the public. Locals were invited to get up close with the iconic trophy and have their photo taken.

The Cup then visited Woolgoolga Public School for a special Lexus Melbourne Cup assembly where students gathered to learn the history of the great race and hear from Laxon as she shared her favourite racing memories.

In the evening, the Cup attended an event at Coffs Legends Lounge where the community was invited to celebrate a night of racing with the coveted trophy.

Coffs Harbour is a part of the Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour National Sweep, which sees 24 rural and regional Cup Tour destinations across Australia allocated a barrier for the 2023 Lexus Melbourne Cup
