What happened in Deloraine
Lexus Melbourne Cup-winning jockey and 2023 Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour Ambassador Michael Rodd accompanied the Cup on its journey to Deloraine.
Beginning its tour of Deloraine with a morning visiting Aged Care Deloraine and Grenoch Aged Care where residents and guests gathered to listen to Michael share his favourite Cup memories and a picture with the trophy.
The Cup then travelled to the Great Western Tiers Visitor Centre for a community event for the community to get up close and experience the magic of the People’s Cup. Continuing on the day, the Cup stopped to visit Deloraine Racetrack before finishing off at the Little Green Men Brewing where the community will gather for an evening to celebrate racing and a photo opportunity with the $600,000 18-carat-gold trophy.
Deloraine is a part of the Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour National Sweep, which sees 24 rural and regional Cup Tour destinations across Australia allocated a barrier for the 2023 Lexus Melbourne Cup
