What happened in Broome

The iconic trophy made the journey to Broome where it surprised locals and tourists alike catching a ride on a helicopter to Willie Creek Pearl Farm before heading to St Marys College to meet with some lucky students after their colour run.

The Cup also visited the iconic Cable Beach to take in the unique and picturesque Broome sunsets and participate in a camel ride alongside dual Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Jimmy Cassidy before heading to the Divers Bar to provide guests with the once-in-a-life-time opportunity to get up close with this year’s Cup.

The coveted trophy then attended the Kimberly Cup at Broome Turf Club to spend the day taking in the racing action trackside along with the local community before finishing its tour of Broome on a fishing charter to catch mud crabs with some lucky locals.

Broome is a part of the Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour National Sweep, which sees 24 rural and regional Cup Tour destinations across Australia allocated a barrier for the 2023 Lexus Melbourne Cup.
