Best Dressed Competition 2025
Australia, VIC
Inspired by Knight’s Choice, winner of the 2024 Melbourne Cup — a horse owned by my partner — this look celebrates his victory through his racing colours of white, fuchsia, and lime green. Every element, from the dress to the hat, was designed and sketched by me and crafted with precision by my tailor and milliner. The structured white silk Mikado dress features a bold fuchsia dupion pleat that opens with movement, echoing the drama of his photo-finish triumph. The sculptural white wide-brim hat, with fuchsia and subtle lime green waves sweeping from left to right, symbolises his winner’s sash and the curve of his lucky horseshoe. A white bag with a fuchsia scarf knotted to represent saddlecloth number 11 from that memorable race adds a personal touch. The gold details of the bag and yellow-gold earrings with a white pearl drop reflect the trophy he claimed. White pumps and milky-white nails complete this tribute to Knight’s Choice’s enduring spirit and legacy — expressed thoughtfully from head to toe, and designed with pride and passion in his honour. This outfit is designed for the Lexus Melbourne Cup Day Fashion on the Field competition.
