The road to the Lexus Melbourne Cup continues.

Lunar Flare produced an epic win in the Listed Lexus Andrew Ramsden (2800m) at Flemington today, earning a guaranteed place in the ‘race that stops a nation’™.

Andrew Ramsden (1934 - 2013) made an enormous contribution to the VRC, where he served on the Committee for 21 years holding positions of Honorary Treasurer, Vice Chairman, and Chairman (1998 - 2003). The name of the race is in honour of his contribution to the VRC and his particular passion for staying races. 

Last year’s edition was taken out by Point Nepean under an expert ride by Alana Kelly who outstayed Luncies to secure an automatic start in November. 

Our charity partner for the day was the Melbourne Cup Foundation.
