The 2026–27 racing season draws to a close with the traditional VRC Members Race Day, a meeting dedicated to recognising and celebrating the valued support and loyalty of VRC members.
The program features the Byerley Handicap (1800m), a key opportunity for owners and trainers aiming to secure a ballot-exempt pathway for their two-year-olds into Melbourne Cup Carnival Group 1 features, the Howden Victoria Derby (2500m) and the Crown Oaks (2500m).
Also on the card is the Deane Lester Flemington Cup 1849 (2800m), a race that predates the Lexus Melbourne Cup by 12 years. It is named in honour of Deane Lester, whose passion for racing and instrumental role in rediscovering and reviving the historic Flemington Cup ensured his enduring legacy within the sport.
