Filmed by Marius Sestier as part of a series documenting the Melbourne Cup Carnival, the production comprised ten one-minute films shown in chronological sequence. It premiered at Melbourne’s Princess Theatre on 19 November 1896, marking one of the earliest moving picture screenings in Australia.
