Australia’s most iconic sporting trophy to be celebrated on Lexus Melbourne Cup eve in Melbourne CBD

The Lexus Melbourne Cup trophy has been on the road since June, touring across the country to 38 destinations after commencing its 23rd annual tour in New York.

Known as the People’s Cup, the three-handled trophy will make its final public appearance at a live broadcast for 101.9 The Fox’s Fifi, Fev & Nick – Live from the Lexus Melbourne Cup Eve Party at Crown! - hosted on the Crown riverwalk at Marmont.

For the first time, the public celebrations will take an evening format. The event on Monday 3 November will run from 5pm – 7pm and feature the Lexus Melbourne Cup trophy, VIP guests and live entertainment from a soon-to-be-named special guest.

Famous faces will include Australian racing legend and VRC Ambassador Gai Waterhouse AO and Michelle Payne OAM, who was today announced as a Melbourne Cup Carnival ambassador. This year marks 10 years since Payne’s history-making win in the Cup on Prince of Penzance.

The VRC Chief Executive Officer Kylie Rogers said Lexus Melbourne Cup Eve at Marmont continues the connection between Australians and the race that stops a nation®.

“The Lexus Melbourne Cup stops the nation and tens of thousands of people travel to Melbourne to be part of the event, so we’re excited to come together and celebrate on the eve of the great race,” Ms Rogers said.

“This year the Melbourne Cup Carnival has a new-look precinct and in keeping with the changes, we have reimagined plans for the public celebration on the eve of the Lexus Melbourne Cup.

“It remains an opportunity to share all that Cup Week is famous for, which is one of the biggest sporting celebrations on our yearly calendar.”

Lexus Melbourne Cup celebrations at Crown’s newest and most glamourous venue Marmont will proceed a media call to hear from leading Cup hopefuls, followed by the popular Call of the Card ticketed event at Crown.

The Lexus Melbourne Cup eve public event will provide another opportunity to support the Melbourne Cup Carnival Pin & Win charity partner, Ronald McDonald House Charities Victoria and Tasmania, with charity pins available for purchase.

The 2025 Melbourne Cup Carnival kicks off with Victoria Derby Day on Saturday 1 November, followed by Lexus Melbourne Cup Day on the first Tuesday of November on 4 November, Crown Oaks Day on Thursday 6 November and TAB Champions Stakes Day on Saturday 8 November.
