Free entry for local community at Flemington on Saturday

Residents from surrounding Flemington suburbs can enjoy free entry to the race day simply by showing their ID at the gate and take part in a free guided racecourse tour. Each 30-minute tour, departing at 12pm and 2pm, will begin at the Makybe Diva statue and provide attendees with an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at one of Melbourne’s most iconic venues.

As part of the tour racegoers will have the opportunity to meet Melbourne Cup-champion Efficient and fellow Living Legend, The Cleaner who will also parade in the Mounting Yard after races 2 and 4.

The day will be a platform to raise awareness for the Les Twentyman Foundation, a Melbourne-based not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting vulnerable and at-risk young people. For over 30 years, the Foundation has provided outreach, education, and employment programs that empower young people to overcome disadvantages and build brighter futures.

On the track, The David Bourke features a former European having his first Australian start in Relentless Voyager, while consistent sprinters Recommendation and Midwest tackle the Funky Farm Sprint.

Seven heats of the Winter Race Series will be run on Saturday where the winner and runner-up of each heat will qualify for the final on Flemington Finals Day on Saturday 5 July. 

Gates open at 11:15am with race 1 at 11:55pm. General Admission tickets are $20 per person with children under 17 admitted free. For more ticketing information, visit vrc.net.au.
