Mark Zahra relives unforgettable four-win Howden Victoria Derby Day

In a remarkable display of riding skill and confidence, Zahra enjoyed a day to remember at Flemington, landing four victories.

In this special behind-the-scenes retrospective, Zahra reflects on the build-up, the pressure and the momentum that carried him through one of the most successful days of his career.

From his opening winner, Get A Good Feeling, to the crowd-favourite success aboard Warnie, Zahra recalls how each victory helped build confidence ahead of the afternoon’s feature races.

“Once your solid plan's in place, there might be a little bit of butterflies, but once I'm on the horse, I know the job I've got to do,” Zahra says.

His Coolmore Stud Stakes victory aboard Tentyris proved a defining moment, with the jockey recalling his confidence in the colt despite having to wait for a gap in the straight.

The day culminated in a memorable Victoria Derby triumph aboard Observer, completing a remarkable four-win performance.

Reflecting on the celebrations and the collection of trophies he carried from Flemington, Zahra described the feeling as one he would happily snapshot as the perfect ending to his career.
