A day of commemoration and celebration.
Honouring our most hallowed traditions, the ANZAC Day Race Day returned to both acknowledge and celebrate the men and women who have served to keep Australia safe.
We also commemorate the important role that Australian horses have contributed in wartime.
Our annual ANZAC Day ceremony gave race goers a chance to pay their respects. This included the laying of the wreath, the reading of the ode, the last post, a minute silence, the Rouse and the Australian National Anthem.
The eight-race program highlighted the running of the Listed VRC St Leger (2800m), the classic staying test for three year olds which ran for the 166th time in 2022. Supporting this time-honoured race was the Listed ANZAC Day Stakes (1400m) for two-year-olds, as well with an open quality handicap (2600m), which along with the VRC St Leger, offered a ballot-exemption for the 2022 Listed The Andrew Ramsden.
A special reminder that all profits on ANZAC Day Race Day will go to the ANZAC Day Proceeds Fund on behalf of the Victoria Racing Club.
