The Road to the Lexus Melbourne Cup begins in earnest with the Listed Lexus The Andrew Ramsden (2800m), which offers a golden ticket into Australia's most famous race for the winner.
Andrew Ramsden (1934 - 2013) made an enormous contribution to the VRC, where he served on the Committee for 21 years holding positions of Honorary Treasurer, Vice Chairman, and Chairman (1998 - 2003). The name of the race is in honour of his contribution to the VRC and his particular passion for staying races.
