The first stage of ticket on-sale for Lexus Melbourne Cup Day saw strong demand for dining packages, with almost all packages for indoor venues sold out within the first 45 minutes and perennial favourite the Members’ Dining Room fully booked to its restricted capacity in 10 minutes.
VRC CEO Steve Rosich said the restricted capacity for high-demand dining areas was a challenge that had been expected, but that the outdoor dining spaces still had capacity and presented another option for members that had missed out on their favourite venue.
“Demand for our indoor dining spaces far exceeded the restricted capacity we were able to offer under the approved COVID-safe event plan, however we do still have availability in our outdoor dining spaces, providing a fantastic alternative for members on what is forecast to be a perfect Flemington day,” Mr Rosich said.
“Our indoor and outdoor retail spaces are also still to go on sale this afternoon, with tickets released in stages at 2pm and 4pm respectively to manage website traffic across the day, providing even more viewing options for members.
“There are also still tickets available for Penfolds Victoria Derby Day for great venues including the Parade Lawn Pods [Pink Zone] and Lawn Stand Stadium Reserved Seating [Green Zone], with members that secure a ticket for Penfolds Victoria Derby Day not precluded from purchasing a ticket for one of the three other days of the Melbourne Cup Carnival.”
Tickets for Kennedy Oaks Day go on sale on Wednesday 27 October and Paramount+ Stakes Day on Thursday 28 October. Any remaining members’ tickets will go on sale on Friday at 3pm.
500 tickets for each race day have also been made available for the general public under the Government-approved event plan, with the general public allocation on-sale on Friday 29 October.

“We remain very grateful for the patience and understanding of our members regarding the restricted capacity that is available as well as the different ticketing arrangements this year given the unusual circumstances,” Mr Rosich said.
“Wherever you are watching Cup Week, whether enjoying on-course dining, soaking up the sun on the Parade Lawn, or watching the action live and free on Network 10 and 10 Play on demand at home or hospitality venues across Australia, all racing fans can look forward to world-class racing on the track and an atmosphere to match.”
